Welcome to Twisted: Time We Immobilised Stigma To End Discrimination

Talking Minds - Subtance Misuse Information and Debate

Twisted (an acronym for Time We Immobilised Stigma To End Discrimination) is the Talking Minds anti-stigma project that seeks to raise awareness of the impact that stigmatisation has. To stigmatise, is to devalue and/or discredit a person from a particular community or service. For example, a person with Schizophrenia can be stigmatised and discriminated by society, because people make assumptions and apply negative stereotypes to that person.

This section will provide you with detailed information and debate on the social model and its general correlation to mental health; specifically challenging the stigma and discrimination often ascribed by society.

Additionally, you will find some articles that do not necessarily correlate to the subject of mental health, but the relevance is still important, because the material available will develop an understanding and raise awareness of the situational diversity in which stigma and discrimination can develop: supporting the focal point of the Twisted anti-stigma project.
